OMG!!! Went Sunday afternoon to the best ribs I have ever had! Excellently smoked ribs, fall off the bone meat. We tried all of the sauces and all were great, especially the hot and the sweet.
The place looks live a dive bar which is my kind of joint. Even though we were stuffed and talked to each other about how all 3 of thought they were the best ribs we ever had, we ordered 1 helping of the bread pudding. It was as good as the ribs and the same size as 1/2 a slab. It was so good we couldn't stop eating even though stuffed.
The service......We sat at the bar and met Ri the bartender. She was awesome! Smiled the whole time, very personable, easy to talk to and attentive to our needs (beers). -

Best BBQ we found up north of the Carolina's.
Very generous sides, extra creamy multi cheese macaroni, baked beans with shreds of bbq, extra creamy mashed potatoes with white gravy and so many more. All very good and everything came out hot. We ordered some fried chicken too, cooked to order with crispy crunchy skin. Really good chicken dipped into the peppery bbq sauce.
Outside makes this a hidden gem, loved finding it thanks to Yelp!

This place is a hidden gem!
First impression: being from Nashville, it remind me of a honky tonk, has a very rustic look. When you first walk in, you're in a bar area that seem pretty small, but if you keep walking, you'll go into another room with a band area (and live band), where you can eat and even dance if you like. Not ready for the boot scootin, keep walking and you'll end up in yet another room, that's more family style. This is where I met some friends.
Food: for a bbq place, I did think it was priced slightly high. However, the food was good, and their portions were a decent size. Very tender meat, with a toasted bun, several options for bbq sauce.
Service: excellent -

Well.... I was so excited to try this place! Maybe we just had an off night, maybe it's what we ordered, maybe it was because they were still relatively new, but it was not very good. The service was OK but if you're going to open a barbecue joint, have great barbecue! I am a little bit spoiled when it comes to barbecue because I lived in South Carolina for many years. My friend is also a barbecue judge, so we've hit up some pretty good places. The brisket I had was horribly dry, hardly any flavor and was pretty much inedible. Any barbecue I have to put sauce on to mask the flavor of the barbecue is just plain BAD.
We always give places a second chance so I will update my review after.... -

I decided to give Check's a shot for Monday Night Football by ordering a to-go order. I have a pretty high expectation for chicken wings. Let me tell you something -- Check's exceeded my expectations and then some. Their wings are absolutely amazing. I will definitely be back to try some more of their food.
